The short version: Be respectful, be honest, and don't use LEAP to harm or exploit anyone. Everything below is that idea applied to specific situations.
Who this applies to
Every LEAP member, officer, volunteer, mentor, guest speaker, and adult advisor, across all eight LEAP programs and every career chapter city team and school chapter — online and in person.
Expected behavior
- Treat other members, mentors, speakers, and volunteers with respect, regardless of school, grade, background, or ability.
- Be honest about what you report — volunteer hours, project work, and event attendance should reflect what really happened.
- Give credit where it's due — don't present someone else's project, code, recipe, or writing as your own.
- Keep LEAP spaces, in person and online, safe and welcoming for members of every grade.
- Be professional at Networking Events — show up on time, be courteous to guest speakers, and follow up respectfully.
Leading a team
- Officers and program leaders (presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, treasurers, coordinators, and leads) serve their members — share information openly and include everyone.
- Treasurers and leaders keep honest records. Every donated item and dollar goes to the purpose it was given for.
- Social media managers post only on official LEAP accounts and only share members' photos or names with their permission.
Not okay
- Harassment, bullying, hazing, or discrimination of any kind — including based on race, gender, gender identity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or nationality.
- Sharing another member's personal information or photos without their consent.
- Keeping, selling, or misusing donated items or money from BRIDGE, Global Impact & Support, or any LEAP drive.
- Using a LEAP program, mentor connection, or event for something unrelated to LEAP's mission without saying so (for example, using a speaker introduction to sell something).
- Misrepresenting LEAP, a chapter, a program, or our collaborators — including our affiliations, achievements, or statistics — publicly or in applications.
- Any behavior covered by our Safety Policy.
Consequences
Violations are handled by adult advisors and LEAP founders, depending on how serious they are — a private conversation, a warning, removal from an event or officer role, or removal from LEAP. Serious violations, like illegal activity or safety threats, are reported to the right authorities and/or the member's school.
