Code of Conduct

The short version: Be respectful, be honest, and don't use LEAP to harm or exploit anyone. Everything else in this document is that idea applied to specific situations.
Who this applies to
Every LEAP member, chapter officer, volunteer, mentor, and adult advisor, across every LEAP chapter and platform — online and in person.
Expected behavior
- Treat other members, mentors, and volunteers with respect, regardless of school, grade, background, or ability.
- Be honest in what you report — volunteer hours, project claims, and case-study submissions should reflect real work.
- Give credit where it's due — don't present someone else's project, code, or writing as your own.
- Keep chapter spaces (in person and online) safe and welcoming for members of every grade, including the youngest members in the room.
Not okay
- Harassment, bullying, hazing, or discrimination of any kind — including based on race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or nationality.
- Sharing another member's personal information without their consent.
- Using a LEAP platform, mentor connection, or chapter event for anything unrelated to LEAP's mission without disclosure (e.g. using a mentor introduction to solicit unrelated business).
- Misrepresenting LEAP, a chapter, or a program's affiliations, achievements, or statistics — publicly or in applications.
- Any behavior covered under our Safety Policy.
Consequences
Violations are handled by chapter adult advisors and LEAP founders/admins, proportional to severity — a private conversation, a warning, removal from a specific event, or removal from LEAP membership. Serious violations (illegal activity, safety threats) are reported to appropriate authorities and/or the member's school.
